Lift My Head

We were going through a tough time, having to walk through several very difficult and painful things. In some respects, it seemed as if there was no hope and it was only going to get worse. We were both overwhelmed and really struggling emotionally. Stephanie came to me and wanted me to listen to something. She had sung this song from start to finish on her phone memo app.

We had only written a couple songs together so far, and that was all the experience she had with songwriting. When I listened to this song on her phone, I knew the Lord had done something special.

To this day, this song ministers to me more than any song I’ve written or that we’ve written together. I get emotional every time I listen to it because I know the pain that birthed it. This lyric really hits me:

The same outstretched arm
That made the heavens

You will lift my head

What a wonderful picture and promise!

Maybe you are going through a painful and challenging time. Maybe you are hurting and things seem hopeless. I pray this song will be an encouragement to you. As followers of Christ, we are promised that the Lord sees our tears and hears our prayers. He is faithful. The day is coming when He will lift your head and you will know the shouts of joy and deliverance that only God can bring (Psalm 126:5).
