Blessing of a Lifetime

In 2006, the Lord brought Timothy Newman into my life. Our meeting was a divine setup. We met at a gas station. I went there to fill my truck. He went there to find some help.

Tim had just been released from prison, and then kicked out of his halfway house due to a failed drug test. He had no family, no friends, no possessions, no money, and nowhere to go. He was scheduled to have major cancer surgery in the next couple of days. (Tim has recently told me that he had decided to not have that surgery, hoping that he might just die, but after we met, he had a change of heart.)

Over the next years, the Lord would do a great work in both of us. The Lord would soften Tim’s heart, rescue him from his sin, and grant him the gift of salvation. The Lord would use Tim to convict me, teach me, and make me a much better man and follower of Jesus.

I don’t have time here to go into the depths of this awesome story. Surely, the day will come when I can write all these things out. My main point here is to celebrate a great milestone in Tim’s life and a great blessing that I will treasure.

Tim was released from his last stint in prison in early 2020. I encouraged him, now that he has given his life to the Lord, he should be baptized.

On June 19th of 2020, we took a trip to Oak Mountain State Park. It was a gorgeous day, and would turn out to be a day I will greatly treasure for the rest of my life.

Please join me in celebrating Tim — my brother in Christ, and my great friend.

Please also join me in praying for Tim, as his cancer has returned and he has been given only a short amount of time to live. Although he is going through an incredibly difficult time, it is such a blessing to watch him continue to honor the Lord and trust in the Lord each step along the way.

There is no more beautiful thing in all the world than the Gospel (the glad news of God’s love and deliverance), and watching it play out before your very eyes!
